G. B. FOWLER, SR.
Shortly before press time we learned the sad news of the death
of G. B. Fowler, Sr., a patriarch of this section and one of the oldest
citizens. he had been critically ill only a few days, being stricken with a
leakage of the heart, it was reported. his age was near the eighty mark, and
until a very few days ago he was quite active, attending to his affairs and
commingling with his friends as was his daily wont, when the weather permitted
his being about.
On account of the short time since we learned of his death we
are unable this week to give the funeral arrangements, though it is understood
that burial will be in the local cemetery tomorrow afternoon. Practically all
his children had gathered at his bedside during the last day or two, but a part
of them were too far away, and it is understood they have been notified and are
enroute here. A list of the survivors will be learned for publication next week,
as well as a more complete life sketch of Mr. Fowler.
The sympathies of the community are extended the bereaved
ones.
