Directions to Carolina Cemetery
Submitted by Elizabeth “Libby” Dickson Golbach
·
This old cemetery on Carolina Hill lies southwest of
Chilton, north of FM Road 935 on a dirt road.
·
To reach it, travel south from Chilton or north from
Lott on US 77 to its intersection with FM Road 935 at Deer Creek Church.
·
Turn west and go 1.5 miles to the first road on the
right (north). Take this road .3 miles.
·
The cemetery lies on the west side of the road.
·
I like to give whole names whenever I can, so if you
can help with this, please let me
know.
·
Updated as info is submitted.
Additions,
corrections, and pictures are always welcome!

"Mother"
From the 1850 and 1860 US Federal Census, Julia A. Currie (also
at the Carolina Cemetery) is David M Currie's mother. His father was
James Currie, and he appears on the 1850 US Census in Caswell, NC, but not on
the 1860 US Census in Colorado, TX. I'm guessing that James died in
Colorado, TX. just prior to the census. According to the 1860 US Census, the children of James A. & Julia A. Currie were: (The names in parentheses are how they
appear on the 1850 US Census) David M. born 1842 On the 1850 Census, it shows that James, Julia, and all
of the children were born in Caswell, NC. Info submitted by David McCreary Earle |
