Marlin.--Four additions were made to Marlin Baptist Church Sunday. The
women's convention closed its wonderful session with a spiritual and financial
drive Sunday evening. The Rev. E. J. Johnson of Waco, delivered a
profound sermon here, and $38.60 was collected for Guadalupe College.
District Grand Lodge F. and A. Masons is in session this week. Hear Hon.
Wm. M. McDonald speak at Davis Chapel M. E. Church Sunday afternoon. Miss
Essie Lee Brooks entertained Miss Ivy Thompson of Terrell, with a very
elaborate luncheon Saturday evening. Those present were Mmes. G. Brown,
F. Hopperwood, D. Radford and Misses Bernice Thompson, Vista Jefferson, Thelma
Nelson and Mathis. Miss Mildred Crane, 654 Park, entertained the junior
maids and matrons April 22. The evening was spent discussing the Literary
Digest. In an answering contest, first prize went to Miss Purdeen Holmes,
second to Miss Mildred Carroll. The senior maids and matrons met with
Miss Baker Wednesday evening. The visitors were Mr. Wymay, Rev. Brown and
Mrs. Washington. Mrs. Dorsey is leaving for Groesbeck to attend the
