SCHOOL NOTES.
A picture of the high school in a body was
taken last week and was very good.
The program for the R. E. L. society on
Oct. 10 was:--
1. Quotations from Lowell, class.
2. Life of Lowell, Mabel Chambers.
3. Reading, Selection from Lowell,
Wyatt Thomas.
Debate: Resolved, that Lowell rather than Longfellow is the
representative poet of America. Affirmative, Rosa Clark;
negative, Harry Bykowsky.
(Debate was probably intended to be No. 4-lsc)
5. Current events, Louise Finks.
6. Decision of judges.
The society will devote the entire month's
work to the study of Lowell and his poem Vision of Sir Launfal. One of
the afternoon's programs will be devoted exclusively to to (sic) the recitation
of the poem by the club.
The teachers of the city schools had their
regular institute Thursday afternoon from 3 to 5. The program as
published in the Democrat Sept. 16 was carried out. The
subject of unity in school government was thoroughly discussed.
