Texas Confederate Reunion.
-----
Bowie, Texas, Aug. 21.--This town is alive with Confederate veterans, sons of
Confederate veterans, daughters of Confederacy and other visitors, come to
attend the annual state reunion of of (sic) the veterans. With the
inspiring tune of "Dixie" played by a number of bands, and with the
stars and bars floating in the breeze from almost every building in the
business section, Bowie is giving a hearty welcome to the visitors.
Appearances indicate that the reunion, which will last until the end of the
week, will be the most enthusiastic gathering of the veterans of the Lost Cause
ever held in Texas. Major General K. M. Van Zandt (of) Fort Worth,
commander on the Texas division, is one of the central figures among the
visitors. Governor Campbell and Senator Bailey are among the scheduled
speakers.
