SHOWER GIVEN IN HONOR OF
MRS. JOHN GREENHAW
Mrs. Reuben Wittner of
Cego honored Mrs. John Greenhaw (nee Miss Daphna Parham of Georgetown) with a
shower on Saturday, June 9, from three to five o'clock.
A number of games were played in a gome,
"A Marriage of the Flowers," each guest was given a group of
questions. Each question was to be answered with the name of a
flower. There was also a game called "Love's Vocabulary," in
which words were to be rearranged.
The following toast to the bride by Mrs.
W. E. Jones:
"Here's to Daph, sweet and fair:
The girl with the pretty brown hair.
She is full of fun and always happy;
Life for her has always been snappy.
And now that John has won her heart,
And from single life has depart.
Upon the Sea of Matrimony,
We hope her sails will never never
fail.
So here's to Daph--we live her true,
And we hope her days will never,
never be blue.
Here's to the bride who will reign
supreme--
May all her life be a honeymoon
dream."
Mrs. Turner Miracle told
Mrs. John Greenhaw that since it had been such a continued drouth, the
community thought they could offer her nothing but good wishes, but someone
overheard the conversation and presented a magic string from the
community. She was told if she would follow where the string would lead,
it would lead to better things. They led to a beautiful array of gifts.
Refreshments were served.
Eighty-three adults and 15 children registered for the afternoon. Out of
town guests registered from Marlin, Chilton, Temple, Georgetown, Blevins, Dot
and Eddy.
