Sergeant Andre Lamar Bateman born July
19, 1970, on 321 Conoly Street Marlin, Fall Co., Texas. Delivered by Mrs.
Clay, a midwife. Mother is Joyce Evelyn Bateman (maiden name is
Stricklin, b 1952 in Marlin, Texas. Father is Johnny Bernard Bateman,
born in Montezuma, Georgia 1947 also a US Soldier -11B.
Andre was a 1989 Graduate of Marlin High
School. After graduating High School, joined the US Army in June
1989. He began his training as Field Artillery Surveyor (82C/13S) in Fort
Sill, Oklahoma. His first duty station was HHB 2/43rd Patriot Missile
Battalion, Hanau Germany from 1989 to 1992. While stationed with the
2/43rd our unit was deployed to Desert Shield/Storm. In 1992, Andre trained
in Fort Benning as a US Paratrooper. After completing Jump School,
stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia with Alfa 13th Field Artillery, a MLRS
(Multi Launch Rocket System) Battery from 1992 to 1995). There I was the
P.A.D.S Chief (Positioning and Azimuth Determining System). From 1995 to
2006 member of HHB 1/118th Field Artillery, a Georgia Army National Guard Unit
in Savannah, GA. From 1989 to 2006 a dedicated soldier who served this
Country. Andre was Honorably Discharged. Awarded several Army
Achievement Medals, 2 Good Conduct Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Georgia
Commendation Medal, Expert Rifleman's Badge, Paratrooper's Badge, Overseas
Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, (2) Non-Commissioned Officer's
Development Ribbons and the Army Service Ribbon.
