JAMES AUSTIN BRYAN, D.D.S.

 

 

     Dr. James Austin Bryan, b October 14, 1950 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas - a son of Austin Daniel and Lydia Beatrice Adelheid (Denke) Bryan - was a 1969 graduate of Marlin High school, and received a B. A. degree in Biology at Baylor University, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1975 from Baylor Dental College in Dallas, Texas.

     While attending Baylor University, James met Priscilla Gail Starratt, b August 3, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts - a daughter of Arthur Wilson Starratt, b August 9, 1917 in Quincy, Massachusetts who married October 1, 1943 in Washington D.C. to Priscilla Marietta Smith. Gail received a B.A. degree in math in 1972, and she and James were married July 15, 1972. Gail taught in the Arlington, Texas Independent School District for three years while James was in Dental School. After his graduation, they returned to Marlin, where he assumed the practice of Dr. Pedro Garcia, a retired dentist.

     James is a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Central Texas Dental Society, a past chairman and member of Falls County Historical Commission and a Founder of Falls County Historical Museum, a member of the Palace Theatre Board, and active in other civic organizations. He and Gail are members of the First United Methodist Church in Marlin.

     James and Gail Bryan have a son, Brinson James Bryan, b September 4, 1985, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County. Texas.
