Robert Long Cobb, b September 7, 1855 in Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama, d May 4, 1928 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery - was a son of Elijah and Mary Susan (Hall) Cobb, natives of Alabama, who were married in Calhoun County, Alabama. Robert Long Cobb left Alabama in 1872 and joined his brother, Joshua V. Cobb, who had settled in Falls County, Texas. After a short time, Robert moved to Dallas County - remained there but two years, and returned to Falls County, where he settled permanently in the Blue Ridge Community. He purchased land in 1884, and resided there, rearing a large family.

On January 22, 1883 at Blue Ridge, Robert was married to Arrilla Warner Millerman, b August 31, 1867 at Blue Ridge, d June 16, 1950 in Marlin, and buried by her husband in Blue Ridge Cemetery - a daughter of John Sanford and Mary (Harlan) Millerman. They were the parents of fifteen children - all born at Blue Ridge:

Robert Nolen Cobb, b December 28, 1883, d November 4, 1951 - married April 24, 1909 to Annie D. Nelson, b December 23, 1889 in California, and had four children. He moved to California as a young, single man, and never returned to live in Falls County.

Olga Cobb, b April 6, 1885 - married December 6, 1903 to John Hughey Elder, b March 25, 1880 in Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee, d November 11, 1951 at Holtville, California - a son of John David and Mary Elizabeth ("Betty" Hughey) Elder, natives of Tennessee.

Infant son Cobb, b & d October 19, 1886.

Jeanne Cobb, b March 20, 1888, d February 16, 1951 and buried in Stranger Cemetery - married Harris Kay ("Pat") Brothers, of Stranger, and had children.

Grace Cobb, b July 26, 1890 - married Roy Martin on December 30, 1917, in Fresno, California.

Charles Millerman Cobb, b March 11,1892, d October 21, 1947 in Houston, Texas - married Gladys Monroe.

Leonard Elijah Cobb, b July 8, 1895, d 1971 in California - married July 8,1917 in Falls County, Texas to Velma Ivy Garrett, b August 31,1898 at Stranger- a daughter of Nathan Willis and Martha Ellen (Jackson) Garrett. They had Catherine Lola Cobb, b September 25, 1918; Robert Leonard Cobb (called "Pete"), b February 5, 1921 who married Nelda Elizabeth Garrett, b September 24, 1922; Dan Cobb, b September 26, 1926; William Nathan Cobb, b October 8, 1928; and Walter Lynn Cobb, b October 1,1939.

Mary Cobb, b March 11, 1897, d March 29, 1966 in Marlin, Texas - married March 28, 1914 to Henry Vernon Harlan, b April 28, 1892 - a son of William A. and Sarah R. (Vernon) Harlan.

Clifford Joshua Cobb, b November 26, 1898 - married January 14, 1926 to Mabel Haley, b March 4, 1902 at Ninevah, Texas - a daughter of J. C. and Georgia Elizabeth (Sinclair) Haley. They had eight children: Clifford Joshua Cobb, Jr., b 1929 who married Lucille Sullivan; Annie Fay Cobb, b October 19, 1931, who married first in 1949 to James Bohn, and married second to Raymond Reed; Franklin Delano Cobb, b February 21, 1933, who married Bernice Annie Polasek; Johnny Silas Cobb, b July 22, 1935, who married April 8, 1971 to Barbara Corice Marshall; William Raymond Cobb, b February 19, 1939, who married Linda Pauline Simpson; Thomas Haley Cobb, b 1940; Evelina Cobb, b June 8, 1942, who married December 26, 1960 to Jimmy Dwayne Nutt, b November 23, 1949; and Ernest Lee Cobb, b 1944.

Sallie Cobb, b May 9, 1901, d 1986 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - married briefly to George Head, but resumed her maiden name and never remarried.

Cyrus Whitaker Cobb, b March 9, 1903, d July 21, 1963 - married first to Carrie F. Adams, married second to Gertrude Tabor, and married third to Bessie Slack. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the D. S. C.

Arrilla Cobb, b March 4, 1905, d March 16, 1977 in Marlin, Texas - married May 30, 1925 to Herschel Richard Powers, b November 20, 1903 in Kentucky, d October 31, 1968, and both buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

George Waylan Cobb, b August 15, 1907, d May 25, 1961 and buried in Stranger Cemetery - married Eula Mae Lane, b February 27, 1907 - a daughter of Samuel and Luella (Webster) Lane. George and Eula Mae lived at Stranger, where their children attended school. After World War II ended, Stranger School was consolidated with Marlin Independent School District, and George became a school bus driver. They had three children: Waylan Ray Cobb, is married and lives in China Spring, Texas; Bobbie Lou Cobb who married R. C. Loftin, of Marlin; and George Edward Cobb, of Temple, Texas.

Valentine Pearle Cobb, b February 14, 1910, who married November 21,1930 to Millard T. Turner.

Nan Althea Cobb, b August 17,1913.

By 1892, Robert Long Cobb owned 524 acres of land - cultivating 145 acres, with 95 head of horses and cattle. He and Arrilla were member of the Christian Church. There are many descendants of Robert and Arrilla Cobb in Falls County, and others who continue to support the Blue Ridge and Marlin Communities.
