Benjamin Franklin
Cornelison, b March 1,1842 in Houston County, Texas, d August 25, 1868 and
buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - was a son of Martin and
Linea Frances (Brandon) Cornelison. Benjamin's father died ca 1844, and his
mother remarried December 25, 1845 to Thomas McKissick Garrett, whose first
wife, Margaret Minerva (Reed) Garrett had also died in 1844, Benjamin Franklin
Cornelison was reared in the Stranger Community of Falls County - being only
six years old when his mother, siblings, step-siblings, and half-siblings joined his stepfather there
in 1850, after their new home had been completed.
On December 23, 1865 in
Falls County, Texas Benjamin Franklin Cornelison was married to Sara Millerman
(called "Sallie" - and
later changed the spelling of her name to "Sara"), b April 2, 1848 in
Montgomery County, Texas, d February 1, 1929 all buried in Blue Ridge Cemetery - a daughter of John Sanford and Mary (Harlan) Millerman,
who moved to Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas in 1856.
Benjamin and Sallie
Cornelison had three children - the youngest born seven months after the death
of his father:
Jasper Garrett Cornelison,
b October 14, 1866 in Falls County, d October 9, 1915 in Kaufman County Texas -
married in Falls County on December 22 1885 to Sarah Rosalis Lavicy Harlan
(called "Sallie"; b October 26, 1867 in Millerville, Clay County,
Alabama, d February 10, 1939 in Seagoville, Dallas County, Texas - a daughter
of John Thomas and Elizabeth (Nelson) Harlan. They had eleven children - the
first six born in Falls County, and the last five being born in Kaufman County:
Jeanette, Dera Elizabeth Ira Ben, Myra, Ethel May, Eugene Earl, Jessie Ida John
Garrett, Hubbard Chester, Celia Dora, and Elvi Christine Cornelison.
Myra Cornelison, b April
23, 1868 in Falls County Texas, d April 24, 1868 and buried in Blue Ridge Cermetery.
Benjamin Sanford
Cornelison, b March 26, 1869 in Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas - seven months
after the death of his father - d February 19, 1917 in Kansas. He married May
21, 1896 in Kansas to Nora Ellen Bruce, and they had children.
After the death of her
husband, Sara (Millerman) Cornelison was married second in Falls County, Texas
on October 24, 1870 to Levi Waddell Kelly, b October 5 1840 in South Carolina,
d May 2, 1926. They had twelve children.
