DAVIDSON, EMILY MARGARET YATES
Emily Davidson came to Falls County, from Leake County,
Mississippi, in 1864 and lived here until she died November 4,
1893. She was born in Fayette County, Georgia October 3, 1824,
the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Wesley) Yates. There were
two girls and four boys in this gamily, among them were Britton
W., James Evans, and William Thomas. On June 23, 1842 Emily
married Paran Davidson, born June 4, 1820 in Tennessee. In 1850
they loved in DeKalb County, Alabama. They moved to Mississippi
in 1852, where Paran died September 24, 1858. Emily came to Texas
six years later with her brother William T. Yates whose wife was
Martha Ann Davis, the sister of Jonathan J. Davis, who was
married to Nancy Jane Davidson, Emily's oldest daughter. Emily
and Paran were the parents of eleven children, including two sets
of twins. All of these children except William lived part of
their lives in Falls County. Several are buried in the Mustang
Prairie Cemetery along with Emily. They are as follows:
1) Nancy Jane 1843 - 1905 married Jonathan J. Davis.
2) William Matthew 1844 - ?
3) Mary Elizabeth 1846 - ?
4) John Hood 1848 - 1895 married Rosetta Davis.
5) Martha Ann 1848 - 1916 remained single.
6) Margaret Emily 1850 - 1920 married John George Smith.
7) James Richard 1853 - ? married Saphorny Jones.
8) Benjamin Franklin 1855 - 1884 married Caroline Barnes.
9) Henry Martin 1857 - 1929 married Margaret Valena Payne.
10) Thomas Paran 1859 - 1925 married Nora Belle Davis.
11) Isabelle Caroline Texas 1859 - 1949 married 1) Taylor Wright
and 2) Monroe Jones.
