Edward Clark Farney, b. 1860 in Alabama, d. 1947 in Golinda,
Falls County, Texas-a son of John Thomas and Sarah Justina
(Baldridge) Farney-came to Texas after the Civil War. On December
24, 1888 at Golinda, he married Minnie Sue Allen, b. June 17,
1868 in Hanover, Ohio, d. April 5, 1945 at Golinda-a daughter of
Spencer and Caroline (Thomas) Allen. Edward Clark and Minnie Sue
(Allen) Farney are both buried in Rosenthal Cemetery at
Rosenthal, Texas.
Edward Clark Farney herded cattle for Captain Ripley Hanrick,
making trips to Old Mexico with the Captain. He stayed there for
a while, working on railroads. In 1888, Spencer and Caroline
Allen's family lived on the old Hanrick place and it was here
that Edward met his future wife.
After their marriage, Edward became a cotton farmer in the
Golinda area of Falls County, and it was there that their
thirteen children were born and continue to reside:
Thomas Clark Farney, b. August 28, 1889, d. January 8,
1973-married Ruby Mackey.
Callie T. Farney, b. December 18, 1890, d. April 1982-married
William Cantrell.
Clarence Bunk Farney, b. July 8, 1892, d ca 1975-married Ludie
(maiden surname unknown).
Edwin Samuel Farney, b. July 30, 1893, d. September 29,
1968-married Clara Wilkerson.
Rosa May Farney, b. December 5, 1894, d. March 4, 1979-married Ed
Wilkerson.
Mildred Blanche Farney, b. January 26, 1897, d. March
1982-married Jack Britton.
Alton Baldridge Farney, b. March 13, 1898, d. January
1979-married Agnes Buckner.
Clara Bell Farney, b. August 4, 1899-married R. J. Duty, and
their daughter, Ruby (Duty) Bowers lives at Golinda.
James Cotton Farney, b. April 8, 1901, d. September 22,
1971-married Alta Mae Buckner.
Justina Farney, b. March 7, 1903-no further information.
Robert Henry Farney, b. December 30, 1904-married Pearl Bryant,
and they reside at Golinda as does their son, Robert Bryant
Farney.
Clyde Ann Farney, b. September 14, 1906-married Dewey Adams of
Chilton, Texas, where he had a cleaning and pressing shop. Their
two children, Donald and Jackie Adams still live there. After
Dewey died, Clyde Ann married second to a Mr. Gilmore. She has
been recognized as an outstanding artist, doing many oil
paintings under the names of "C. A. Adams" and "C.
A. Gilmore," and she now resides in Marlin.
Felix Alonzo Farney, b. February 7, 1908, lives at Golinda. Other
grandchildren include Kathy (Farney) Radle, Clark Farney, Lloyd
Farney, and Sue (Farney) Bray Smith.
