William Poindexter Jones, b
May 9, 1852 near Bowling Green, Caroline County, Virginia, d April 29, 1947 and
buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Falls County, Texas - was the tenth of
eleven children of Richard George and Sarah Jane (Brewer) Jones, natives of
Virginia. In 1859, Richard George Jones came by ship to Texas - bringing his
wife and children. They lived in Navasota, Millican, and Bryan, Texas before
finally establishing a home at Hog Island (present - day Rosendale) in Falls
County.
On September 26, 1877 in
Falls County, William Poindexter Jones was married to Willie Salina Riley, b
April 24, 1861 in Monroe County, Alabama, d June 29, 1930 at Reagan, and buried
in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin - the youngest daughter of Thomas Mercer and
Sarah Eliza (Boyles) Riley - plantation owners at Pineville, Alabama. Willie
had come to Falls County with her uncle and aunt - the George Robbins family.
William P. Jones acquired
several tracts of land for farming and livestock production. He and Willie were
members of the Baptist Church in Reagan, where their thirteen children attended
school, and then several continued their educations elsewhere. William and
Willie built a home at Reagan, which had to be enlarged through the years to
accommodate their growing family. It is still a gathering place for
descendants, and has been repaired by a granddaughter, who plans to retire
there.

October 10, 1878, d April 2, 1965 - married Hershel Dilworth,
and had Lula Muriel Dilworth, Houghton Dilworth, Dorothy Dilworth, Walter Earl
Dilworth, and Margarite Dilworth.
Richard Poindexter Jones, b
July 27, 1880, d July 30, 1968 - married Lela Carter.
Thomas Riley Jones, b July
17, 1882, d April 25, 1912 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - married Annie Marshall, and had Thomas Jones and Clifton
Jones.
Byrd Bradford Jones, b December
5, 1884, d May 2, 1975 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - married Marietta Kay, b
December 8, 1888, d July 28, 1971.
Clyde Mortimer Jones, b
March 2, 1887, d June 7, 1968 - married Lillian McMillan, and had Christine
Jones, who married L. P. Dulaney, of College Station, Texas.
Austin Brewer Jones, b
April 22, 1889, d January 21, 1970 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - was unmarried.
Howard Montie Jones, b July
11, 1891, d January 15, 1985 - married Mable Wallace.
Walter Lee Jones, b
February 11, 1893, d January 28, 1953 and buried in Calvary Cemetery - married Enid Marie Lyon, b August 21, 1895, d August 26, 1959. He was a Bugler in
Company B, 360 Infantry, 90th Division, during World War I. Walter and Enid
were the parents of Virgil Lee Jones, b September 17, 1923, killed in action
during World War II on February 11,1945, while a Staff Sergeant in the European
Theater of War; and two daughters, Joy and Crystal Jones.
Chester Earl Jones, b
February 18, 1895, d October 3, 1972 - married Ivy Guinn.
Katie Aline Jones, b
November 5, 1896, d August 11,1983 - was never married.
Millard Vivian Jones, b
August 31, 1898 - alive in 1986, who married first to Ida LaPointe, married
second to Ida Collins; and his children were Joanna and Grace Jones.
Willie Columbia Jones, b
October 20, 1901, d September 4, 1970 - married Orville Groner.
Odis Ponder Jones, b November
17, 1905, d September 2, 1981- married Lenora Echols.
