John Rufus Ogden

John Rufus Ogden, of Cedar Springs -- married November 20, 1900, to Sarah Oakes Reed ("Sallie"), b in Falls County, Texas -- a daughter of Richard Allen Thomas and Sarah Minerva ("Minnie" McClanahan) Reed. They purchased a ranch in Mexico, and several of their children were born there before they returned to Falls County, Texas. Their five children were:
Max Ogden, b October 1902 in Mexico, d 1905 and buried there.
Elenora Ogden (later "Elnora"), b November 29, 1904, in Mexico -- married Walter Denton, and had two daughters and one son.
Guy Mac Ogden, b December 4, 1908, in Mexico, d June 10, 1983, in Marlin, and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery there -- married July 20, 1931, to Georgia Oda Mills at Franklin, Robertson County, Texas, who died July 30, 1975. When Guy Mac Ogden died, he was survived by a son, Ronny Ogden of Austin, Shirley Walker of Dallas, and Sallie Howze of Midlothian; two sisters, Alyce Williams and Elnora Denton of Marlin; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Alyce Aileen Ogden, b October 16, 1920, died about 1985 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas -- married Robert D. Williams of Rosebud, Falls County, Texas, and had two daughters: Sharon married John Kuretsch and had one daughter, Kari Kuretsch; and Dana married Kevin Smith and had a daughter, Alyce Gayle who married Mark Tays and had twin sons, Marcus Lee and James Robert Tays, b August 29, 1981, and another child born in 1983.
John Rufus and Sarah Oakes (Reed) Ogden were both buried in Hillcrest Cemetery at Marlin.
