STUART
Peter Stuart, b ca 1835 in
Mississippi, d after 1900 in West Falls County, Texas -was brought to Falls
County as a slave with his wife, Sarah, b ca 1835 in Mississippi, d after 1900
in Falls County, and two of their eleven children. It is probable that their
owner was Ezekiel C. Stuart, of Mississippi, who bought land west of the Brazos
River ca 1857. Mr. E. C. Stuart was elected County Judge of Falls County ca
1874, holding that position until his death.
Peter and Sarah had nine more
children, rearing them in Falls County - even after they had been freed during
the Civil War. Peter acquired some farm land at Cedar Valley, because of the
Reconstruction Policy; and it stayed in the family for several generations.

Harriet Stuart, b ca 1857 in Texas
- married Satchel Tiller.
Rosalie Stuart, b 1861 in Texas -
married a Mr. Scruggs.
Julia Stuart, b ca 1862 in Texas -
married Hezekiah Taylor, I, b 1858 in Louisiana - a son of John and Diana
Taylor, of Virginia and South Carolina, respectively.
Dinah Stuart, b ca 1864 in Texas -
no further information.
Samuel Stuart, b ca 1869 in Texas -
no further information.
Vicy Stuart, b ca 1871- married a
Mr. Warren.
Elizabeth Stuart, b ca 1873 in
Texas - married a Mr. McGee.
Emanuel Stuart, b ca 1875 in Texas
- no further
George Stuart, b ca 1877 in Texas -
no further information.
The descendants of Peter and Sarah
Stuart have lived in Falls County, Texas and elsewhere for over 130 years.
