Charles Clarence Whitaker, b January 27, 1909 in Falls County, Texas, d August 12, 1984 and buried in the family cemetery on his farm-was the sixth of ten children of George David Vincent and Martha Elizabeth (Pryor) Whitaker, natives of Georgia, who married in Texas. Charles grew up in the Chilton area of Falls County, where he lived most of his life.
On May 28, 1928, Charles Clarence Whitaker was married to Mary Elizabeth Brown, who died December 28, 1985-a daughter of Robert and Ida Luella (Maynard) Brown. Charles was a farmer-owning his own farm in the Chilton area. When he retired, he deeded the farm to their two sons. Mary worked at the Threadgill Jewelry Store in Marlin after Charles had retired, until her own health required her retirement.
The two sons of Charles Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Whitaker were:
Charles Clarence Whitaker, Jr., b May 26, 1931-married March 17, 1955 to Mary Earl Sproull, b March 9, 1933.
Stuart Brown Whitaker, b February 27, 1937-married September 8, 1962 to Wanda Louise Hicks, b January 24, 1943.
