Christell C. Allen

 

     Christell Crawford Allen, 90, of Troy died Thursday, May 31, at a Belton nursing home.

    

     Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Troy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating.

    

     Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Troy.

    

     Mrs. Allen was born in Troy to Clarence Andrew Crawford and Ladye James Leeton Crawford. She was a homemaker and seamstress. For several years, she was secretary to the Bell County Superintendent of Schools. She also served 13 years as secretary in the office of the Baylor University Women's Residence Halls, retiring in 1983. She graduated from Troy High School in 1928 and from Draughan's Business College in Austin. She married Bernard Isaac Allen of Blevins on Dec. 12, 1942. He preceded her in death. She was a lifetime member of the PTA, having served as president of the Troy PTA for several years. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Eddy where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and served in many other capacities. She was a current member of Troy United Methodist Church.

    

     Survivors include one son, Larry C. Allen of Carthage; one daughter, Candace Vaughan of Troy; one brother, Delaine Crawford of Lubbock; one sister, Rena C. Jeffers of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    

     Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago 60601, or to Troy United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 9, Troy 76579.

    

     Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
