Lifetime Falls County
resident, Lorene Eugenia Barganier Anding, age 91, of Marlin, died on Friday,
December 14, 2007 at Elmwood Nursing Center where she received excellent and
loving care.
Lorene was the third daughter born to C. E. (Mr. Genie) and Leona
Watkins Barganier on August 27, 1916 on her parent's ranch, which is still in
her family at Cedar Springs in Falls County. She was educated at the Cedar
Springs School and graduated from Marlin High School in 1933. Lorene attended
Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton until her marriage to William A. Price Jr.
in 1935. Four children were born to Lorene and Bill's union.
After the youngest child began elementary school, Lorene matriculated to
Baylor University in Waco to complete her undergraduate degree, attending
classes by day while her children were in school. She had the pleasure of
donning cap and gown to receive her diploma in 1956 with then-U.S. President
Dwight D. Eisenhower being the commencement speaker. Lorene also earned her
Master's Degree at Baylor.
She was very proud that three of her children (son Bill whose BBA degree
was from University of Houston is the only exception) and other family members
followed in her footsteps at Baylor - son, James. LLB, Baylor School of Law,
his wife, Ann Willers Price, BA, granddaughter Paris Price, BA; daughter

Mrs. Anding began a 25-year teaching career the week she celebrated her
40th birthday, first commuting to Barclay near Rosebud where she taught grades
1-3 in one room. She then transferred to Marlin Elementary School where she
walked only one block to her classroom. At Marlin, Mrs. Anding taught first
grade for many years then second grade. Mrs. Anding's home on Easy Street is
across the street from St. John's school playground, and she said during her
retirement years that the most beautiful sound she heard was the laughter of
children playing during recess.
Mrs. Anding was a member of the first United Methodist Church in Marlin,
and active member of Circle III and the Marlin Civic Club during her younger
years, and the Learner's Club. When her children were growing up, Lorene was
active with the Boy Scouts of America, working with Bishop F. P. Goddard, and
with the Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Anding was preceded in death by her husband C. Moore Anding in
1990, her daughter Virginia Price Edens in 2005, one grandson E. Colby Sharp in
2000, and by her sisters Emmie and Bessie.
Her surviving children are William E. (Bill) Price and his wife Anne of
Salado, James E. Price and his partner Estelle of Dallas, son-in-law John P.
Edens of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary Ann Price Close and her husband Ralph of
Ramrod Key, Florida.
