Marlin Rites for Elsie Lee Batey

     Elsie Lee Batey, 83, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1992 at East Texas Medical Center in Athens.

     A private memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, with Rev. Clark Montgomery officiating.

     Miss Batey was born July 1, 1909 in Lott, Texas.  She was the eldest of 10 children born to the late Steve and Addie (McBride) Batey.  She lived in East Texas many years before moving to the Waco area about 1960.  She had been a resident of Park Plaza Nursing Home in Mart for about two years.  Two months ago, she moved to West Place Nursing Home in Athens.

     Survivors include four sisters:  Dorothy Bell of Mart, Hazel Whitley of Corpus Christi, Del Marie Schubert of Olney, and Addie Fay Woods of Keifer, Okla; and other relatives.
