CHARLES LOCKRIDGE-BELL

Charles Edward Lockridge-Bell, 58,
of Marlin died November 11, 2005. Services
were held Saturday, November 19, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Elm Grove Missionary
Baptist Church. Pastor Dr. Robert C.
Thomas eulogist, and Pastor Waylon D. Sias officiating.
Charles was born December 21,1946
to the parents of Marshall Bell and Eula Lockridge-Bell. At an early age
Charles accepted the Lord, united and was baptized at Marlin Missionary First
Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Eric Hooker. Charles was active in various church
activities, and he also was a part of the Boys Scout of Marlin.
Charles attended Booker T. Washington
public school in Marlin Texas. Charles
loved to play football, basketball and run track. While attending High School, Charles met and married Gloria King.
To this, union three children were born.
Later in life Charles moved to
Dallas where he became a truck driver by trade. In 1996, Charles moved back to Marlin where he was reunited with
his high school sweetheart Faye. Charles and Faye (Ruby) married July 5, 1997. Charles would later unite with Elm Grove
Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert C. Thomas,
where he served as treasurer of the Brotherhood.
On Friday morning, November 11,2005
Charles departed this life. Charles was proceeded in death by parents,
Rev. Marshall Bell and Eula Lockridge Bell and his former wife Gloria Dean
Bell, son Charles Edward Bell Jr., Brother Bertron Jay Bell Sr., and a
granddaughter Cierra Williams.
Charles leaves to cherish his
memories a loving wife Ruby (Faye) Bell; his mother, Alyene Belief Marlin,
Texas; a daughter, Lynda Butler (Julius) Scaggs; two sons Roderick Bell and
Enrico (Philidda) Bell Both of Lansing Michigan; one sister, Jewel (Eulrike)
LeDay of Baytown, Texas; two brothers Marshall (Charmion) Bell, and Terry Bell
both of Marlin, Texas; one aunt, Jocelia (T. C.) Mitchell of Houston, Texas;
four special children, Donald (Roshune) Williams of Long Beach, Calif., Sasha
(Larry) Massington of Marlin, Texas, Chavous (Nickie) Williams of Dallas, Texas,
and Marquis Dickerson of Dallas, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; eight sister-in-laws, Cheryl Bell of Ceres, Calif., Goldie
Shaw, Dora Wiggins, Bertha (Robert) Robinson, Ruth (Leonard) Morgan, Ester
(Fred) Evans, Billie (Kenneth) Young and Opal Phillips all of Dallas, Texas;
three brother-n-laws, Charles (Marva) Fantona, Calif., Frank Glenn and Robert
(Joyce) Butler all of Marlin, Texas, a host of nephews, great-nephews, nieces,
great-nieces, cousins and friends. Special
friends, Gertie Allen, Sonny Johnson, Robert and Lavern Thomas and the entire
Elm Grove Baptist Church Family.
Charles' favorite passage of God
word was the Psalms 23.
Pallbearers were the Elm Grove
Brotherhood and Demetrius Parker. Honorary pallbearers were the 2005 Marlin
Bulldogs Football Team, Coach Malone and staff.
