WILLIAM H. (BILL) HARPER

William H. (Bill) Harper, 80, of
Temple, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at a Temple hospital. Services were
Friday, April 1, 2005 at Scanio-Harper Funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with the
Reverend Frank Simcik officiating. Burial was at Oenaville Cemetery.
Mr. Harper was born July 12, 1924 in
Marlin, Texas to Robert H. and Jenny Ellen Ward Harper. He attended Marlin
schools.
A World War II veteran, Bill served
in the U.S. Army. He married Vera Huffstetler on December 20, 1945 in Waco. He
was a maintenance engineer for Ponderosa Motor Inn in Temple until his
retirement in 1989. Mr. Harper was a member of Evangelical Brethren Church in
Temple, and he was a member of the Bell County Sheriff's Posse. He enjoyed
doing custom farming and he loved his family and showing his horses
Survivors are his wife Vera Harper,
of Temple; two daughters, Linda Kunkel and husband Kenn, and Nancy Straka and
husband Bobby, both of Temple; two granddaughters, Kacey Pond and husband Duane
of Georgetown and Jenny Cade and husband Matt of Houston; one grandson, James
Straka of Temple; and one great-grandson, Kolten Pond of Georgetown.
Pallbearers will be Matt Cade,
Kenneth Kunkel. Duane Pond, Felix Valasquez, Johnny Walton and Don Heath.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 31,
5:30-7:30 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral home.
