Rosie Lee
(Clay) Jones - Rosie Lee (Clay) Jones was born March 27, 1917 in Falls County,
Reagan, Texas, the third of six children.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined
Bethany Baptist Church, Highbank, Texas, and later the Zion Rock Baptist
Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board and was an active
participant in all activities of the church. She united with Zion Hill
Baptist Church, Marlin, October 9, 1983, because it was closer to home.
She worked faithfully in Zion Hill until her illness, January 6, 1986, serving
in the Mission Society, Sunday School and other departments.
The Lord called and she answered to his call February 16,
1986 at 4:30 a.m., St. Luke Episcopal, Houston, Texas. She was married to
Luerinza Jones Sr., February 13, 1932. To this union nine children were
born. Her husband preceded her in death, June 23, 1970. She was
employed at Torbett Hutchins Smith Memorial Hospital fifteen years as a
Laboratory Technician, retiring March 27, 1982 on her 65th birthday.
She leaves to cherish her memory; five sons, Richard Lee
Jones, Johnnie L. Jones, Luerinza Jones Jr., Tommie Lee Jones and Cornell
Jones, all of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Lillie Mae Turner, Addie Mae
Runnels, Luella Davis, all of Houston and Rosell Henley, Waco, Texas; her
mother, Mrs. Adline Baker, Marlin; two brothers, Willie C. Clay II and Sanford
Clay, both of Marlin, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson, Reagan, Texas and
Emma Lou Modkins, Marlin, also 39 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 15
nieces, 14 nephews, other relatives and friends.
Interment: Fish Creek Cemetery, Fish Creek, Texas.
