IN MEMORIUM
J. L. Nichols died suddenly at his home at Fairview, Jan 19th, at 9 a. m.
A gloom was cast over the entire community when it was learned of this sad and untimely death.
Mr. Nichols leaves to mourn his death, a wife, and seven children, all married, but two, one brother, M. H. Nichols,of Bowie, and on sister, Mrs. R. L. Hearon of Stranger, beside a host of relatives and friends.
This good man was upright and honorable in all his dealings , and in his death the community has lost a splendid citizen, and his family a devoted husband, and a kind father. These have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends. We can only point them to God in their sad hour of bereavement, for His will be done, not ours.
Mr. Nichols was born in Hardin County, Tenn, Dec 14th, 1852 and came to Texas 36 years ago, where he had since resided. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church a number of years, and was loyal to his church and obedient to God.
His remains were laid to rest in the Stranger cemetery Thursday afternoon, followed by a large number of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted at the grave by Rev. Crockett.
