Mrs. Parham, 86, Cego Resident,
Pioneer Club Member;
Funeral Today
Mrs. S. A. Parham, 85, a
member of the Central Texas Pioneers Club, died at her home at Cego Friday at 4
a.m. after an extended illness. She had been married 65 years and she and her
husband were honored last June 29 at the annual Pioneers' day convention here
as the oldest married couple present.
She was born Oct. 16, 1852, in LaFayette
Springs, Miss., and married S. A. Parham Feb. 1, 1872. They moved to
Texas in 1879, settling near Reed's Lake. After living there for 12
years, they moved to the Blevins and Cego area and had lived there since.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving is her husband, two children,
Mrs. S. K. Smith of Temple and B. R. Parham of Cego; two brothers, J. C. Bowers
of Blevins and D. L. Bowers of Lorena; one sister, Mrs. Ben L. Taylor of Marlin
and 12 grand-children and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at
3 p.m. at the Blevins Methodist church, of which she was a member. Rev.
E. R. Patterson of the Eddy Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will
be at Blevins cemetery with Hewett in charge.
