MARLIN MAN DIES AFTER ILLNESS LASTING WEEK

 

Death Ascribed in Infection Possibly Caused by Chicken Bone

 

To an infection in the lower abdomen said to have been possibly caused by a chicken bone swallowed a week ago Sunday was ascribed the death of B. G. Parks,  age 54, who died in Marlin about four o’clock this morning.  He became ill last Tuesday and was moved from his home to a hospital Saturday.

 

A native of Collin county, Texas, deceased later lived at China Springs, McLennan county, and subsequently at Lampasas until he moved to Marlin about 15 years ago.  He had resided here practically ever since, operating a bottling works for several years and being engaged in hotel clerk work in recent years.  He was a Mason and a member of the Methodist church.

 

Surviving are his wife and a sister, Mrs. H. P. Jones of Houston.  A niece of Mrs. Parks, now Mrs. Villa Highsmith of Knoxville, was reared in their home.  Deceased’s stepfather, W. F. Herring, resides near Waco.

 

Last rites for deceased were announced for 10 a.m. Thursday with services in the funeral home chapel in charge of Rev. O. W. Hooper, pastor of the First Methodist church of Marlin, and burial in Calvary cemetery.  Masonic honors will be accorded at the grave by members of Marlin lodge No. 152 A.F. and A.M.
