WALLACE H. PETERS KILLED.
-----
Cotton Belt Switchman Caught
Between Cars at Waco.
-----
Wallace H. Peters, a switchman for the Cotton Belt railway, was crushed to
death Saturday morning at 12:10.
Peters was in the act of making the
coupling for the Pullman, connecting with the south bound, I. & G. N. train
at Waco, which was an hour late. By some mistake in signals, or other
unexplained cause, the train backed onto him and he was pinioned between the
drawheads.
As soon as possible he was released and
medical aid summoned, but death followed in a short time.
Marlin parties on the train returning home
from Waco were on the train and saw the unfortunate man in the viselike grip
between the two cars.
Deceased was 33 years of age and leaves a
wife and one child. His home was in
Waco.
