James Phillips

 

     James Oland Phillips, 70, of Bellmead, a retired railroad employee, died Monday night at a local hospital.

 

     Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. James E. Marecle and the Rev. Milburn Crosby officiating. Burial will be at Eddy Cemetery.

 

     Mr. Phillips was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Falls County near Eddy. He attended Eddy schools and was married to Alma Vaughn in 1936. He moved to Waco in 1944 and worked 39 years for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, retiring as a maintenance foreman.

 

     Mr. Phillips was a deacon of First Free Will Baptist Church.

 

     Survivors include his wife; a sister, Mrs. J. W. (Mettie* E.) Gibson of Waco; three brothers, Ralph Phillips of Bruceville, Maurice Phillips of Houston and Windell Phillips of Eddy; two foster sisters, Bobby Medlin of Lorena and Bettie Grisham of Eddy; and a foster brother, C. K. Ashley of Eddy.
