JOHN POWERS
SUCCUMBS
~~~~~
At 12 o'clock m. Thursday John
Powers breathed his last at Kerrville near San Antonio, death being caused by
consumption from which he had been a sufferer but a few weeks.
John had been in bed since the 20th day of last
December, and remained at Reagan until about a week before his death when his
brothers J. A. Powers came on from Edwards county and took him to Kerrville
with the hope that the change in climate would be beneficial to him, expecting
ultimately to take him to the ranch in Edwards county.
Upon arriving at Kerrville it was evident that the
patient was not long for this world and comfortable quarters were secured for
him. His brother Sam was notified and he went to Kerrville and remained until
John died. J. A. Powers and W. H. Etheridge were also present at the death bed.
Owing to illness in their own families Messrs J. A.
and Sam Powers returned to Edwards county after having the remains properly
prepared and shipped to Marlin in charge of Mr. Etheridge, arriving here on the
six o'clock I & G N.
The remains were interred at Reagan cemetery today.
