JAMES MARION SHELTON
May 24, 1928 - March 31, 2006
James Marion Shelton, 77, of the
Stranger community passed away on Friday, March 31, 2006. Services were held at
the Stranger Community Church on Sunday, April 2, 2006. Rev. Clement Gordon officiated. Burial followed in Stranger Community
Cemetery.
James Marion Shelton born May 24,
1928 in Rule, Texas, to Ed and Hazel Shelton, reared in the Bremond area,
attended school in Pettaway and Franklin. He was raised in Pettaway by A. C. and Estelle Rodgers.
He served in the United States
Merchant Marines in 1945-46. He married
Donna Ann Pertle on December 23, 1948. He was a farmer, rancher, mechanic, avid
gardener and a long time employee of T. L. James and Co. in Waco. He and his
wife attended Stranger Community Church. He was preceded in death by his
parents, his foster parents and a brother, Billy Shelton.
He is survived by his wife, Donna
Shelton, Stranger; four sons, James and wife, Renee Shelton, Greenville;
Richard and wife, Judy, Rosebud; Rodger and wife, Jean, Stranger; and Thomas,
Chilton; two daughters, Debra and husband, Bill Atomanczyk, Mart and Jeanelle
and husband, Tom Greene, Lorena; 15 grandchildren, two step-children, and 16
great grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Lyon and Walter, Bremond; numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
His grandsons served as
pallbearers.
Adams Funeral Home in Marlin was in
charge of arrangements.
