MARLIN MAN'S UNCLE IS DEAD
AT HOUSTON
John Tubb, 80,
of Houston, brother of the late Elgin Tubb and uncle of Jack Tubb, both of
Marlin, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in a Houston hospital. He was a
native of Reagan.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in
Marlin, with Rev. A. A. Bratcher, pastor of Trinity Memorial Baptist Church
here, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot. Other members
of the family buried there are his father and mother and sister, Bessie Kate
Glass.
Mr. Tubb is survived by his widow at Houston; a son, W. G. Tubb, who is manager
of the Texas State hotel in Houston; and three adopted daughters.
He was a retired peace officer. His last position before retirement was
that of chief guard at the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston.
He had been ill for several months in a Houston hospital. While visiting
him there about a month ago, his wife fell ill and broke a hip, and thus will
be unable to attend the graveside service in Marlin.
Mr. and Mrs. Tubb, until the last few years when their health wouldn't always
permit, were formely frequent visitors in Marlin, and knew many of the city's
"old timers."
He attended school at Reagan, but left there as a young man. Since that
time, he had lived at what was then known as Goose Creek, Texas, and Houston.
