Verla Mae Grear
March 17, 1920 – September 25, 2000
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday,
Oct. 5, 2000, in Rose City Funeral Home for Verla Mae Grear, who died Sept. 25
at age 80.
Mrs. Grear was born March 17, 1920,
in Groesbeck, Texas. Her maiden name was Washington. She had been a nurse's
aide for a nursing home in Groesbeck for many years. She moved to Portland in
1995 and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. In 1938, she married
Fred Grear; he died in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter,
Linda Grear-Long; stepson, James; sisters, Lillie Blacknall and Ruby Bennett;
eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Rose City
Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the Marie Smith Center.
