RAYMOND
NEALE McGUIRE
February 24, 1931 - May 11, 2006
Raymond Neale McGuire, 75, of
Marlin, entered into rest on Thursday, May 11, 2006 in a Temple hospital.
A celebration of life memorial
service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with
Dr. Richard Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the
service.
Mr. McGuire was born Feb. 24, 1931
near Rogers, Arkansas to Walter O. and Grace Elizabeth White McGuire. He was a
member of the Marlin High School senior class of 1950. Following graduation, he
completed his four-year apprenticeship and became a mason where he worked for
several large construction companies before establishing his own firm. He
secured and operated the Bolin Wrecking and Salvage Company in Marlin. After
selling the company, he moved to Florida where he was employed as a master
electrician at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Miami. In 1977,
he moved back to Marlin where he contracted and built custom homes and
businesses. Later, he founded and served as president of the Viking Boat and
Canoe Company of Texas and also founded Bay Skiff Boats. Boat building, long
the interest of his life, became his business and his great love. Neale served
in the 143rd. Infantry Regiment, a unit of the 36th Infantry Division, Texas
National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and a 32nd degree Mason. His parents,
a brother, Warren McGuire and sisters, Darlene Franz, Norma Jo Shook and Doris
Bufford, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 29
years, Archielee McGuire of Marlin; daughter, Tracey McGuire of Austin;
brother: Bill McGuire and wife JoAnn of Marlin; step-mother, Hazel McGuire of
Marlin; uncle, Robert White and wife Mozell of Wheaton, MO.
Adams Funeral Home in Marlin was in
charge of arrangements.
