L. Norwood passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 in Austin, Texas. She was
born on April 20, 1911 in Mart, Texas, to Edward and Estelle Loggins, but she
grew up in Marlin and graduated from Marlin High School in 1927.
Over
the years she studied at three universities - Texas Woman's University, Baylor
University and Texas State- achieving the equivalent of a Masters Degree in
Special education. For 30 years, she taught school for cerebral palsy and
post-polio students at the Ada B. Wilson Hospital school (later a part of the
Corpus Christi Independent School District.)
Following
her marriage, she lived in Corpus Christi for 63 years. In 1996, she moved to
Austin to be near family.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Norwood (a teacher at Corpus
Christi High School, W. B. Ray High School and Del Mar College), and by a
daughter, Betty Estelle (Susy).
She
is survived by a son, Robert E. (Bob) Norwood and wife Barbara, a grandson,
Bredt Norwood and wife Angela, and one great-grandson, Ben, all of Austin,
Texas.
