A WEDDING EVENT
A very pretty wedding
was solemnized at the Methodist church on Wednesday evening at eight o'clock,
January 29.
The occasion was the marriage of Miss
Beulah Powers to Mr. Stephen Jackson Ward and there were present quite a large
number of friends to witness the happy event.
The interior of the church was a perfect
bower of lovliness (sic), the floral designs and decorations being of the
richest kind. Evergreens, smilax (sic) were conspicuous everywhere.
Rev. D. H. Hotchkiss officiated, using the
impressive ring ceremony.
Miss Eva Nettles played that wedding march
and a song was given by Mrs. J. W. Torbett.
The attendants were:--Miss Susie Battle,
maid of honor, Mr. E. T. Renfro best man. Ushers: C. W. Adams, Lowery
Humphery C. A. Oltorf and Myrtle Powers.
After the church service was over, the
bride and groom with a party of friends repaired to the residence of Mrs. S. M.
Read, mother of the bride, where a reception awaited them.
The guests were served with refreshments
of the daintiest, and spent a short time very pleasantly at this hospitable
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward were the recipients of
many nice presents and the hearty congratulations of their friends with wishes
for a long and happy life.
Among the out of town guests were:
Mrs. Seth Mooring, Bryan, Miss Mary Sears Taylor, Waco, Misses Field, Fuller
and Gibson, Calvert, Miss Smith, Dallas, A. H. Sneed, Waco, L. W. Hale, San
Marcos.
