CARROLL, James David
The Carroll family was Irish, and were established in the late 1600's in Virginia, and were located in the Roanoke Valley in the early 1700's. They migrated into North Carolina, and Douglass Carroll, of this family, moved to Georgia in the 1790's. Their property was destroyed in the Civil War, and they moved to Freestone County,Texas where they had relatives. In the 1870's, James David Carroll I relocated to the end of the railroad at Quanah, and opened a hardware business. The family lived there for a long time, and had a business that sold farm supplies, dealt in grain and other farm products, and also with other partners, operated a cotton gin. Many members of this family are buried in the Quanah Memorial Cemetery

WELLS, Stirman Benton
My Wells ancestors were North Carolina pioneers, arriving there in the early 1700's from England. They relocated to Tennessee in 1796, moved to Arkansas in the 1840's, some members of the family arriving in Texas in 1828 where they settled in Austin's Little Colony at Bastrop. Stirman Benton Wells moved to Quanah in the 1890's where several generations of the family later operated a sheet metal, plumbing and general construction company for many years. Many members of this family are buried in the Quanah Memorial Cemetery
