 Edward Hatch

An officer of Iowa volunteer cavalry during the Civil War, Hatch in 1867 received brevets of brigadier general and major general for galiantry at the Battle of Franklin and Nashville in 1864.  He was colonel of the 9th Cavalry from its organization in 1866 until his death in 1889.  Col. Edward Hatch, 9th Cavalry, dispatched three expeditions against the Apaches in the Guadalupe Mountains during the year he commanded Fort Davis, 1869—70.
