John Robert Noble was born March 27, 1843 in Tippah County, Miss.   He was one of seven children born to James Baxter and Sarah (Houser) Noble originally of N.C.    John married Dec. 21, 1865 Florence Madora Brown who was born Feb. 14, 1847 in Tippah County, Miss. daughter of Jessie and Polly (Nance) Brown.     According to his Muster Rolls and his Civil War Pension File, he enlisted in the Confederate Army Aug. 1, 1862 at Orizabra near Ripley, Miss as a private in Co. C, 1st Miss Partisan Rangers, later known as the 7th Miss. Cav. or Partisan Rangers under Col. Wm. C. Falkner.    He was in the battle of Corinth, and the Battle at Brices Cross Roads. They took part in the raids with Nathan Bedford Forrest throughout Tennessee & Kentucky, and were in many skirmishes.    He was a prisoner by surrender May 1865 and Paroled Jun 10, 1865 at Memphis, Tn.   He took the Oath of Allegence in 1866.   He was a member of the C.M. Winkler Confed. Veterans Camp #147 in Corsicana, Tx.   He was bestowed the Southern Cross of Honor by the Navarro Chapter #108 of Daughters of Confederacy, April 26, 1917.      John's Confederate Veteran Uniform is in the possession of the Daughters of the Confederacy, who is working on opening a new museum in North Texas.

John & Florence moved to Barry, TX about 1895,  where Florence Madora (Brown) Noble died at Barry, Tx  Jan 7, 1914 and is buried in the Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Navarro County, Texas.  John Robert Noble died Dec. 14, 1936 in Corsicana, Tx  and is also buried in the Dresden Cemetery beside his wife.

John Robert Noble, 93, Is Buried at Dresden
CORSICANA, Texas, Dec. 15. - Funeral services for John Robert Noble, 93, Confederate veteran, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sanford Bingham, Monday afternoon, were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Baptist Church in Barry with burial in the Dresden Cemetery.
Mr. Noble enlisted in the Confederate Army in Ripley, Tippah County, Miss., in 1861, and served in Company C. Second Mississippi Partisan Cavalry, under Col. W. C. Faulkner. He came to Navarro County in 1896 and resided in the Barry vicinity for a number of years prior to making his home in Corsicana.
Surviving are five children, C. O. Noble, Lake Charles, La.; Mrs. J. B. Well, Houston, Mrs. V. T. Wright, Mrs. Sanford Bingham and L. L. Noble, all of Corsicana; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
