Friends Saddened By Tragic Death of Tucker Family
"Friends of this area learned with extreme regret early this week of a fatal two-car collision which took the lives of a man and his wife native to this and the Purdon communities, and that of their five-year-old son.
Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Dean Tucker, and their young son, Darrell, were killed near Lubbock late Sunday afternoon. Four occupants of the auto which struck the Tucker vehicle also perished.
Mr. Tucker was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Tucker, well known farm couple who now live near Covington after residing in the Blooming Grove and Purdon communities during past year, His wife was the former Shirley Woodard of Purdon. Funeral services for the tragedy victims were conducted in Purdon at
2 p.m. Wednesday. The family lived in Lubbock.
Mr. and Mrs. Tucker, their six sons and two daughters were a prominent rural family of this area until recent years. The surviving five brothers of the deceased man are J. C. Tucker, Dallas; Otho Tucker, Fort Smith, Ark.; Ross Tucker, Borger; and Mack and Jerry Tucker, both of Waco. Sisters are Mrs.
Kathleen Payne, El Paso; and Mrs. Pauline Griffin, Sunnydale, Calif.
Mr. Tucker's wife is survived by her parents of Purdon, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Woodard; three brothers, Harold Woodard, Waco; Ralph Woodard, Purdon; and William Woodard, Dallas.
The McCormick Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements and burial for the Tucker family was in Resthaven Memorial Park at Corsicana."
Notes:
- It appears that the article should be from about 1993 if this is the same Doyle Dean Tucker (died in Lubbock). I just don't see a death record for his wife or son. Could be much early and this could be a son with the same name ? I will post this to the obituary section, someone may have more
info. Thanks !
